| New Programs Available! |
In response to your feedback, several new mini-programs are now available that divide most of the components of the Comprehensive Health Assessment into segments:
1. Vitality & Sexual Health Package
2. Performance Package
3. Metabolic Package
For some, this may allow added flexibility to incrementally stage the program. Look for more details coming soon to the website.

Greetings,
It is hard to believe that it is already the middle of July. The weather certainly has not cooperated with the season, but the sun is shining today. That makes me happy and want to play golf.
So far, my newsletters have focused primarily on optimizing health by preventng physical deterioration and chronic diseases. This month I discuss ways to reduce your risk of cognitive decline and avoid dementia as you age. There's no point in having maintained your physical prowess if your mind doesn't know about it.
Here's to your health... |
| Dementia Risk Increased by Abdominal Obesity |
I have previously reported on the association between belly fat (visceral fat) and the increased risk for insulin resistance, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, sleep apnea and premature death.
As if that weren't sufficient reason to flatten your stomach, that middle-aged bulge may also increase your risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or other types of dementia later on in life.
Abdominal, or visceral, fat is stored inside the abdominal cavity attached to the greater omentum; a drape-like sheet covering the internal organs. It is metabolically active and releases toxic chemicals (cytokines) into the bloodstream causing increased inflammation and has been implicated in causing many chronic disease .

| Smokers More Likely to Suffer Cognitive Decline |
Smoking is a very expensive habit, both financially and health-wise. It has been widely recognized as the greatest individual risk for heart disease, stroke, emphysema, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD) and lung cancer. It has also been strongly implicated in early erectile dysfunction (ED)and breast cancer.
Recent studies have linked current smokers with an increased risk of cognitive decline, related to the effect smoking has on vascular disease. There is a well established link between cognitive decline and later life dementia.
