Cassandra Forsythe-Pribanic, PhD
Cassandra Forsythe, PhD, is a Nutrition and Exercise Specialist for Alternity Healthcare. Her expertise is in the effects of low-carbohydrate ketogenic diets and resistance exercise on risk factors for heart disease, diabetes and body composition. Dr. Forsythe is a Registered Dietitian and received her Doctorate from the University of Connecticut; the top kinesiology program in the US.
She maintains certification as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a Certified Sports Nutritionist (CISSN) through the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN).
Dr. Forsythe earned her Masters Degree in Human Nutrition and Metabolism and her Bachelors Degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.
She is an experienced nutrition educator and weight-loss coach and is the author of two popular books for women: “The New Rules of Lifting for Women”, co-authored with Lou Schuler and Alwyn Cosgrove, and “Women’s Health Perfect Body Diet”.
Dr. Forsythe is also actively involved in training individuals to maximize their fitness in conjunction with proper eating. She oversees the Nutrition program at Alternity Healthcare, and has been an invaluable resource in assuring the supplements we offer are of the highest quality and have meaningful research to substantiate their effectiveness.
Michelle Boire, MA
Michelle Boire is Alternity Healthcare’s Office Manager and an advanced degree Exercsie Phyiologist. She has more than 10 years experience training a wide variety of individuals including children as young as 7 years, adolescents, teens, adults and senior citizens. She specializes in weight loss, postural improvements, functional training, and performance training for athletes. Michelle is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. She is an active member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). In 2006, she placed third in the Northern States Bodybuilding Figure Championships. She was a fitness model for the popular, “New Rules of Lifting for Women”, by Lou Schuler and has her own published exercise plan in “Women’s Health Perfect Body Diet” by Cassandra Forsythe, PhD (2007).
Michelle earned her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Miami University and her master’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Connecticut. She has also served as part-time faculty in the Physical Education and Human Performance Department at Central Connecticut State University.
Michelle's athletic history includes being an avid figure skater for 17 years. She was part of Miami University's Collegiate Synchronized Skating Team, where she earned 3 National Championships in 4 years. Currently, Michelle stays active by competing in sprint-distance triathlons during the summer and enjoys snow shoeing and strength training during the winter.
Michelle brings a high degree of professionalism and enthusiasm to her dual role with Alternity Healthcare. She has been instrumental in the design and implementation of our strength, flexibility and fitness evaluations and oversees our new after-care training program. Maintaining physical fitness is an integral part of aging youthfully.
